So… my life has kind of been a dumpster fire lately. LONG story that I really need to sit down and write. Suffice it to say that it was a HUGE adventure to get where I am right now…
I ripped up the carpet in the front room.
Down to the subfloor… so… plywood…
I was trying to decide what I could do with it that would be kind of very me… This is what I came up with…

I want a labyrinth… would kind of like one outside but this one will mean that it is all mine and I can do whatever I want to do with it. I can’t make it gravel in the front room… but I can memorialize pets present and past by making the paths out of stepping stones…

Paw prints with names
stones in different colored paint
When I was growing up the Dining room had a floor painted with stones. I always found it fascinating…. but… never thought I would be able to do it… This adventure means I have the optimal opportunity to make my own version…
BUT…
raw plywood…

My day job comes complete with discount at the paint store… we have higher end paint that has built in primer and you can tint it. You can tint it DIRT colored!!!!!! I picked rugged brown the the pain I need to get down on the floor this weekend.
I put out the call to a free stuff (recycle, upcycle, don’t buy if you don’t have to) site on Facebook and I got some very interesting orphaned paint that I was able to adopt (an amazing blue that will make the circle in the middle a pond… yellow that is going to be flowers… interesting colors for stones.
Getting the paint down will take the biggest part of the night (moving things around to paint under them… around them… cleaning as we go) but it should be down and done and dried by first of the week.
The dirt layer to begin with.
Then I will start laying out the stones.
I can’t wait to see the colors of rehomed paint I adopted turn into stones.
I have to admit I didn’t get a couple colors I was hoping for so I have to buy some ‘try before you buy a whole lot’ quarts… the red and the purple. I remember the BRIGHT RED stone next to the living room door from when I was little… I may not make the same kind of stones and mine will have things like… grass growing between them…. lady bugs and dragon flies… flowers… but… the change is currently in process… I can not wait to see how it develops.
more to come!!!
