Granny Fricket's Thicket

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking (and reading) about Yule, this year. I’ve become fixated on, for starters, Krampus. By extension (because Elf on the Shelf creeps me out in a LOT of ways) the Krampus helper elves. That lead to the fact that at least one of those elves is one of the 12 lads of yule. The mother of the 12 lads is Gryla.

Gryla is an ogress who’s cat is the Yule Cat that eats ‘bad’ children.

MAN, the rabbit hole this has taken me down. Ove the coming weeks, I want to start writing up (doing my digging… my research…) the stories of Yule that I’m finding from all over the world.

Yes, yes… I know.. history is bad. Only one view point is right. And all of that blather and BS. The connections from around the world and around the history is fascinating to me and you, dear reader, will be the victim of that fascination.
