Granny Fricket's Thicket

I have really taken to making vinegar. 

I have made some interesting apple cider vinegar. The batches I made all made their own mothers. That might have excited me a little too much. I scooped out the mothers and put them in a new home in white vinegar. 

I have two batches of rice vinegar ‘cooking’ in the china cupboard. They look like they are doing well.

I read a blog post about how amazingly wonderful his batches of pineapple vinegar turned out. It is apparently really yummy. 

I have been keeping my eye out for fruit that I can use to make interesting vinegar… and I found TWO orphan pineapples!!! On Christmas, I put them in chunks in water… added a little sugar… added a little of my apple cider mother and put them up to ‘cook’. 

A little look at my concoctions, this morning, and it turns out that pineapple vinegar makes some amazing mothers (no, it’s not mold… it’s mother… and the vinegar underneath smells amazing). I can’t wait to taste it. I’m not sure when I will be able to fish out the chunks. I should probably leave them alone for another couple weeks.
